Peanut Island is famous not just for its crystal-clear waters and fantastic snorkeling, but also for the epic parties that unfold on its sandbars. The island offers different areas to suit your preferences, so if you're looking for a more family-friendly experience, we can make that happen. Just let us know, and we'll customize your visit to fit your needs.
Originally named Inlet Island, the island was renamed Peanut Island for a planned peanut oil-shipping operation which failed in 1946. A $13-million renovation on the island in 2005 resulted in Peanut Island Park including camp sites, a pier, and a man-made reef. It includes paths that encircle the island, along with gardens and picnic sites.
The island also was the location of a blast shelter built in secret for President John F. Kennedy shortly after his 1960 election. Kennedy often spent winters in nearby Palm Beach, Florida. The shelter, Detachment Hotel was open for tours for several years, but was closed in October 2017.
Let our experienced captains guide you to any part of the island that suits your preferences. We can customize the trip to fit exactly what you're looking for.
We also offer "Catch Your Lunch" excursions, where the adventure starts with deep-sea fishing in the morning. Then, we'll head toward the island, spending the afternoon at the sandbar. Here, you can grill your freshly caught fish and savor a delicious meal while soaking up the island's beauty.
Don't forget to bring your favorite seasonings!
